We Protect Pets from Vicious Viruses
Humans aren’t the only mammals that need vaccinations to be protected from diseases and viruses; your pet needs them, too! Think of all the time they spend outdoors, or sniffing around on the floor and in corners where all kinds of pathogens might be hanging out. Pet vaccinations are key factors in maintaining their health, and here in Wisconsin Rapids, we strongly recommend pet vaccinations from puppy- or kitten-hood onward, every year for the rest of their life. Most vaccines expire after one year, so be sure to mark your calendar for their next annual visit.
Pet Vaccinations 101
We are committed to protecting pets in Wisconsin Rapids and surrounding areas, and vaccinations are usually the first line of defense. Canines and felines should receive their initial boosters at about 8 weeks old, and their subsequent boosters every 4 weeks until they are 16 weeks old.
Pet vaccinations we offer for canines include:
- DHLPP – prevents distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, & parvovirus
- Lyme – prevents Lyme disease, a tick-borne virus
- Bordetella – prevents kennel cough
- Rabies – fully protects against this viral disease; required by law
Many felines don’t receive the vaccinations they need, because most of them never leave the house and cat owners assume this means they’re safe from disease. Unfortunately, they are just as at risk as canines that spend most of their time outside.
Recommended feline vaccinations include:
- FVRCP – prevents rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, & panleukopenia
- Rabies – fully protects your feline from contracting rabies; required by law
Giving Your Pet the Individualized Care They Deserve
