Our Veterinarians in Wisconsin Rapids
Dr. David Wickersham, DVM
Dr. Wickersham earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Illinois in 1981, and has been taking care of pets ever since. He knew he wanted to be a veterinarian when he was a little boy playing with frogs, turtles, snakes, baby birds, and any other wildlife he could find. In high school, he worked for his home town veterinarian, who made a strong impression and cemented his desire to become a veterinarian himself one day. He and his wife, Joanne, who is practice manager here at Woodland, have been together for 37 years. One of the most rewarding aspects of his career is having the opportunity to help young adults with their interest in veterinary medicine—so far, he’s had 3 former employees go on to attend or graduate from veterinary school. He also loves helping pets through their health issues and making their owners happy. Dr. Wickersham considers raising his 4 wonderful children and becoming a veterinarian his greatest accomplishments in life, and considers choosing to live and work in the Wisconsin Rapids area one of the best decisions he and his wife ever made. In his spare time, he enjoys anything involving the outdoors: boating, swimming, biking, fishing, rowing, ice fishing, playing baseball games in the summer, and tending his more than 35 apple trees. He also enjoys going to auctions and estate sales to look for unique items.
